Introducing Corpus Christi:
Texas’ Largest Coastal City

at this Welcome to Corpus Christi video
for IAMC with a message from Gov. Rick Perry.

Many people would be surprised to learn that Corpus Christi ranks third in the nation in commercial construction - while also being known as one of the most popular vacation spots along the Gulf Coast. But with nearly $5 billion in new commercial projects underway and the fifth busiest port in the nation, this dynamic industrial city is in the enviable position of being one of the highest growth areas in the nation.

New construction recently finished or currently underway includes:
CITGO Petroleum Corporation(2004)
Corpus Christi International Airport (2004)
American Bank Center (2004)
Shoreline Medical Plaza (2004)
Whataburger Field (2005)
Crosstown Expressway (2005)
Driscoll Children's Hospital (2005)
Seawall (2006)

There are many factors that make Corpus Christi a superb business destination, including environmental quality, job training programs and incentives. Corpus Christi is the only industrial port city that meets EPA clean air and water standards. In addition, the city boasts an excess water capacity of over 30 million gallons per day. Job training programs are provided in cooperation with nearly one dozen local vocational schools, community colleges, and universities, including Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Del Mar College. Substantial training is available at little or no cost to the employer through the use of various state and federal programs. In addition, the voters of Corpus Christi recently approved the use of incentive dollars to create primary jobs and provide job training assistance. These funds are available to assist with capital expenditures related to a new location in Corpus Christi.
