Sponsor Spotlight: Lubbock Economic Development Alliance
Economic development (ED) can be defined as an activity that seeks to improve the economic well-being and quality of life for a community by creating and/or retaining jobs that facilitate growth and influence the restructuring of the economy. Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (Lubbock EDA) is home to several highly experienced and knowledgeable ED professionals that continually push for present and future success in Lubbock and the West Texas region.
The majority of our assets are directed to the company's main objective, improving the business climate through specific efforts in business finance, marketing, small business development, business retention and expansion, technology transfer, work force development, and real estate redevelopment among others. But this is not where it stops.
Here at Lubbock EDA we strive to expand the traditional ED role by looking for innovative means to create positive results. These efforts have lead to the creation of two Lubbock EDA programs with unlimited potential for the Lubbock community. First is the Lubbock Regional Bioscience Initiative with a mission to promote regional economic growth and development, support established companies, and foster entrepreneurism within the bioscience industry. The initiative also serves to network companies and professionals in the West Texas region to bioscience communities across the U.S. and the globe. This program helps put our community in the global communication on technology and sustainability.
Young Professionals of Greater Lubbock (YPGL) is the second newly formed Lubbock EDA program. YPGL's focus is to seek out and develop emerging leaders and attract and retain diverse young talent throughout the region. A youthful workforce helps in building a vibrant business climate and brings a fresh perspective on the city as a whole. With around 450 members, YPGL is on its way to making an impact on the Lubbock business climate.
Being in the economic development field we are at an advantage when it comes to recognizing and learning the work force needs of companies in varying industries. As economic development professionals we are in continuous dialogue with city officials, industry leaders, and community partners to keep communication channels open between each of these entities. Lubbock EDA's Work Force Development division works largely through community partnerships to achieve its goal of being certain that Lubbock's labor force is prepared for successful career options.
Whether you are a business looking at Lubbock as a prospective location, an individual looking to move here, or an existing resident, Lubbock EDA is working to be ahead of the curve. We are your resource for success.
