A distinguished group of speakers — a renowned marketplace strategist, an automotive industry expert, corporate real estate professionals, an economist, and a representative from a large global manufacturing company — will deliver key sessions at the Fall 2009 IAMC Professional Forum. In the context of Corporate Real Estate's Impact on the Balance Sheet, they will present "absolute truths" for value creation, share viewpoints regarding overcoming the financial and automotive crises, and present case studies that demonstrate the ability of corporations to enhance the bottom line as well as the local economies. Here's a sampling of recent topics the programs have addressed:

  • Asheville Forum — "How to Maximize the CRE Database System as a Corporate Productivity Lever." Case examples were presented by Active members from GlaxoSmithKline, Kimberly-Clark and ServiceMaster.

"IAMC Industry Groups: An Update"
To provide a medium for its corporate end-user membership to network, strategize, and ultimately add value to the industries and organizations they represent, IAMC recently formed three industry groups — Consumer Packaged Goods Industry Group (CPGIG), Health & Science Companies Action Group (HSCAG), and Large Scale Manufacturing Industry Action Group (LSMIAG).

This is the first of many sessions to be offered at future Professional Forums wherein industry group Chairs will talk about what their groups are learning and report on research under way. Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about IAMC Industry Groups and, possibly, how you can benefit from their work.

"FASB Proposed Lease Accounting Changes and the Impact on Corporate Balance Sheet"
The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) is proposing lease accounting changes designed to better align with the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) which sets accounting standards for Europe and other countries. The FASB proposal, tentatively scheduled to be phased in by 2011, will require public companies to capitalize their operations leases. Doing so could significantly shift a corporation's financial strength.

This session will explain accounting changes proposed by FASB, outline rules that will guide public companies, and present a sample treatment of how an operations lease and a capital lease affect an Operating Division's occupancy cost. The information will provoke thought about capital markets, whether to lease or own, sub-leasing strategies and more. Don't miss this important session!

2:15 pm — 3:15 pm M4 Workshop Peer-to-Peer Discussions — Part 1

The information exchange provides insights and possible solutions based on actual case studies.

3:30 pm — 4:30 pm M5/M6 Workshop Peer-to-Peer Discussions — Part 2
Corporate end-users gather in one meeting room and economic development and service provider professionals in another. The intent of the separate discussions is to provide opportunities for each group to talk candidly about topics relevant to their respective job responsibilities.
