Whirlpool Looks Toward $800M in Cost Cuts

SUPPLY CHAIN DIVE—Whirlpool Corp. is eyeing $800 million in 2023 cost cuts, company officials reveal. According to CEO Marc Bitzer, the adoption of certain procurement-based strategies (such as dual sourcing) helped mitigate supply-chain risks. The firm is also assessing parts complexity to determine the appropriate parts to optimize.

Werner Achieves 70% Reduction in Costs

TRUCKING DIVE—Much like Whirlpool, Werner Enterprises has been working at reducing its overhead, and logging results to the tune of 70% of targeted cuts. The goal, according to EVP, CFO and treasurer Chris Wikoff, is an expected $43 million in annual savings. The drivers of the cuts include lower costs for over-the-road  tractor maintenance and parts and reducing (by 3.4 million) the miles tractors travel. The carrier is also developing digitized routing systems.

Link Industrial Signs Mullen Auto to 121,615 SF

REBUSINESS ONLINE—EV vehicle maker Mullen Automotive has signed for 121,615 square feet in Fullerton, CA. The Link Logistics property features 6,234 feet of office space, 32-foot clear heights and 17 dock doors. The asset, fully fenced in, sits on 5.4 acres.

Beverage Maker to Expand to the Tune of $452M

COMMERCIAL PROPERTY EXECUTIVE--Canned-beverage maker DrinkPAK is planning to expand its North Texas operations with a $452-million investment. That capital is slated to produce two locations totaling 2.8 million square feet. The sites selected for the construction are two Trammell Crow industrial campuses—one in northeast Fort Worth, the other in the southeast. Some 1,000 full-time jobs are expected to result from the new facilities by 2026.

Westcore Picks up Reno Distribution Center for $83M

REBUSINESS ONLINE—Westcore has added a 632,130-square-foot distribution center to its portfolio in an $82.5-million acquisition. Situated on 34 acres in the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center in Reno, the LEED-Gold-certified facility offers 200 trailer stalls, energy-efficient lighting and ESFR sprinklers. And there’s more.  At the time of the sale, the asset was fully leased.
