Plastic Free Gulf Coast/Mississippi Coastal Clean-up

Plastic Free Gulf Coast is focused on reducing the use of single-use plastics, polystyrene, and plastic-lined food/beverage containers within the five gulf states through outreach, education, and providing single-use plastic alternatives to restaurants and consumers.  

Plastic Free, partnering with Mississippi Coastal Clean-up and Mississippi State University, will organize and lead a beach clean-up from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. 

Things to know:

• Check In: Volunteers will meet in the Roasted Bean Patio/Terrace around 7:15-8:00 a.m.  Plastic Free/MS Coastal will brief volunteers on the issues of plastic and marine debris in the environment and how residents and visitors can help. There will also be a safety review.  The group will leave the hotel at 8:00 a.m. and walk to the beach area.
• The “Start” tent - West of the Beau Rivage on the beach. Gloves, trash bags and other supplies will be provided along with a Water/Gatorade station.
• On-site staff will be there to answer any questions or address any issues during the clean-up.
• The “Finish” tent - Across from the Biloxi Lighthouse; extra supplies and an additional Water/Gatorade station will be available.
• More Information about Plastic Free and MS Coastal Clean-up organizations will be provided to volunteers.

Al carte breakfast (to-go) items and a buffet lunch will be provided at the Beau Rivage to volunteers and staff.
