IAMC Member Spotlight
As an organization, IAMC fosters relationships that turn into both business partnerships and long-term friendships. The path to corporate real estate varies widely, and our members come from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds.
We thank Jonathan Majors, Real Estate Sr. Manager for Real Estate Senior Manager, for sharing his!
1. Tell us a little bit about you:
I am an Atlanta native. Grew up in Marietta, GA, and attended Georgia Tech where I earned a business degree. Go Jackets!
2. Tell us about your path to corporate real estate.
I was originally on track to become an accountant, but during my final year of school, I took an internship in the marketing department of a local commercial real estate brokerage firm in Atlanta. Unsurprisingly, I found it more enjoyable than accounting, and I've been in the industry ever since.
3. What is the scope of your responsibilities at your organization?
I currently serve as a function of the logistics department, and I am responsible for all of GPI’s warehouse sourcing and procurement. I work with the business on any real estate matters to include lease administration and setting up new locations.
4. What is your favorite part of your role, or the industry as a whole?
The best part about being a corporate real estate manager is the ability to touch so many parts of the business. Every day and every deal are different, so there is never a dull moment.
5. What is one skill specific to your job could you share with the rest of the membership?
Building and maintaining relationships is one of those skills that is so important to what we do. Developing genuine connections with colleagues, clients, and industry peers can open doors to new opportunities, foster collaboration, and provide valuable support to help drive success.
6. What led you to join IAMC? What do you enjoy most out of the organization? If IAMC has helped you in your career in any way, and you’re able to share, please let us know.
The highlight of IAMC is the connections you build with peers who share your journey. Every individual I've encountered through IAMC is sincerely dedicated to helping you thrive. It's not a sales organization, but a supportive community, which is why I've been a proud member for over four years.
7. Fun Facts:
Tell us about one thing you have on your bucket list.
Always wanted to go to Alaska.
What was your first job?
I was a cook at Applebee’s!
What would your superpower be?
If I could have any superpower, I think it would be the ability to instantly learn and master any skill. Imagine if you could just pick up a guitar and instantly rock out a Taylor Swift song.
