Your Network Is One of IAMC's Greatest Assets
By J. Tate Godfrey, CEcD, President & CEO
One of the most powerful ways IAMC grows is through the people who already know it best: our members. And among all member groups, service providers are uniquely positioned to make a difference.
Brokers, developers, construction companies, engineering firms and other service providers work alongside corporate real estate decision-makers every day. They know who would thrive in an IAMC environment, and those introductions carry real weight.
We're asking service provider members to keep that in mind. When you encounter a corporate real estate professional who would benefit from this community, we encourage you to share their name with Michele Miller and the Membership Development Committee.
There's also a practical incentive worth knowing: IAMC currently has 156 service providers on its membership waitlist – a wait that can stretch up to four years. Referring a qualified corporate member is one of the few ways to move to the front of that line. Yet surprisingly, very few waiting companies take advantage of it.
We understand there may be hesitation. Some service providers worry that bringing clients into IAMC means exposing them to competitors. But that concern misunderstands what makes IAMC different. This is a low-sales environment by design, a place where relationships deepen, not where business gets poached. Strong service provider relationships aren't threatened here; they're reinforced.
The proof is in the results. Colliers International in Brazil routinely brings 20 to 30 clients to IAMC events. Cushman & Wakefield in the UK does the same. These companies haven't lost ground – they've positioned themselves as true strategic partners by sharing something genuinely valuable with the people they serve.
In short, the referral benefits everyone: your client gains access to a community that will genuinely serve them; and you deepen the relationship in the process. That's not a risk. That's the point. Imagine the impact if more of our members embraced that same mindset.
If someone comes to mind right now, reach out to Michele. That's how this community grows – one trusted introduction at a time.
