There is an old African proverb that says, “Calm seas do not make skillful sailors.”  After going through the rough seas of 2020 and 2021, IAMC staff, Board of Directors, Committee Co-Chairs have demonstrated excellent skills in making it through a particularly challenging time to be a professional association.

IAMC has had to make some tough decisions to adapt to the limitations presented by a global pandemic. And, we were not alone.

Sam Waterston famously said “If you’re not moving forward, you’re falling back.”  That is very apropos for professionals, especially in today’s ever-changing business climate.

In short, continued professional development and knowledge sharing is a critical component of personal and professional growth. Staying ahead of current trends and best practices makes a positive impact on both the individual and the company they represent. Additionally for an organization, professional development is a critical component of developing the leadership pipeline.

Longtime IAMC member and friend Donald Ernest Alexander, 67, died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones, on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. Born August 27, 1954, in Gardiner, Maine, he was the son of Donald V. and Phoebe E. Alexander.
