This Spring’s event will support “Heal the Ocean” - a non-profit citizen's action group with a simple philosophy: The ocean can no longer be used as a dump. Heal the Ocean focuses on wastewater infrastructure – sewers and septic systems – as well as ocean dumping practices that have contributed to ocean pollution. They are focused on Santa Barbara County, but their methods are now serving as a model for other coastal communities across the country.
We will register in the lobby of the Hilton from 8:30am- 9:00am, then walk to across to the East and West Beach for a beach clean up project. These beaches are the most visited in the area and can use some TLC as they are inundated with trash from State Street.
Light breakfast refreshments, VSP t-shirts, supplies during the event, and a post-event lunch back at the Hilton are sponsored by IAMC.
NOTE: please wear closed toe shoes that can get sandy and wet!
