Membership Categories

IAMC offers membership categories for both corporate real estate professionals and economic developer or service provider organizations:

  • Corporate End User Membership is defined as industrial real estate management professionals who are primarily engaged in the product supply chain.
  • Economic Developer/Service Provider Membership is limited to companies and organizations representing the leading suppliers of products and services sold to corporate members. Associate members include economic developers, real estate developers, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, real estate brokers, utilities, financial service providers, and technical equipment and service vendors.
  • Retired Membership category allows IAMC members to continue participation in the association in their retirement.
  • Academic Membership is available to both full-time faculty members and full-time students at accredited colleges and universities.

Guidelines for Determining Designation

  1. Real Estate Investment Trusts - All employees of REITs will be designated as Service Provider members.
  2. Development/Construction Companies - All employees of Development/Construction Companies will be designated as Service Provider members.
  3. Third Party Logistics Companies - Applicants with primary job responsibilities in the areas of asset acquisition and management will be designated as Corporate End User members. Applicants with primary job responsibilities in the area of business development or marketing of 3PL services will be designated as Service Provider members. The driver for the corporate designation for RE managers in this group is that real estate is not the primary business of the company
  4. Transportation Companies (Trucking and Rail) - Applicants with primary job responsibilities pertaining in the areas of asset acquisition and management will be designated as corporate members. Applicants with primary job responsibilities in the area of business development or marketing of transportation services will be designated as service provider members. The driver for the corporate designation for RE managers in this group is that real estate is not the primary business of the company
  5. Brokerage/Consulting Companies - All employees of Real Estate Brokerage and Consulting companies will be designated as service provider members. This includes outsourced contractors embedded within a corporation.
  6. Corporate RE Subsidiaries (Boeing/Lockheed-Martin) - If the primary function of the subsidiary is to provide corporate real estate and developmental services to internal corporate clients, applicants will be designated as corporate members. (Development services to outside customers, applicants will be designated as service provider members.) In effect, the subsidiary is the corporate real estate department. The driver for the corporate designation for RE managers in this group is that real estate is not the primary business of the company.
  7. Port Authorities - All employees of Port Authorities will be designated as economic developer members.
  8. Utility Companies - Applicants with primary job responsibilities in the areas of asset acquisition and management will be designated as corporate members. Applicants with primary job responsibilities in the area of business development or marketing of utility products and services will be designated as service provider members. The driver for the corporate designation for RE managers in this group is that real estate is not the primary business of the company.
