Fort Worth will
provide the backdrop to two major milestones for IAMC members when we gather
there for our Spring Forum, June 19 to 23. For one, this is – obviously – the
first time members will meet face-to-face and in-person for more than a year.
The second is a lineup of educational sessions and special events geared to
open dialogues about business and success in the New Normal.
“The IAMC Board of Directors
took a bold stand in scheduling our first live, in-person event since the start
of the pandemic,” says IAMC President & CEO J. Tate Godfrey, CEcD, adding
that the choice of venues is equally significant: “Texas has demonstrated
similarly bold leadership in dealing with the pandemic.”
In many respects,
while the Forum is forward-looking, there will also be a touch of the
traditional. Last year, we all settled into a world where videoconferencing was
our primary means of communication. And while Zoom, Google Meetings and other
applications will remain important options for outreach, at its core, “IAMC
thrives as an organization because of our face-to-face networking and
peer-level knowledge sharing,” Godfrey says.
The Forum promises
to be a fact-packed five days, with plans for four major keynote presentations
and more than 20 individual events, tailored for corporate members, service
providers and economic-development pros.
Here are just some
of the highlights:
- Jesse
Itzler, Author of
Living with A SEAL and cofounder of Marquis Jet (and
an owner of the Atlanta Hawks), opens the Forum with a presentation on
Building Your Life Resume. “It’s an especially important topic,” says
Godfrey, “given the additional stress we experienced living through the
pandemic.”
- Tim
Dismond, chief responsibility officer with CBRE, will also be on hand to
discuss
The High Value of
Diversity in Today’s Economy
.
As we pivot to a more inclusive corporate culture, the IAMC president notes,
corporate mindsets must also pivot to a wider exchange of ideas in order to
remain relevant and speak to an evolving business audience.
- We’re
also pivoting from the deepest economic upheaval since the Great Recession to a
more robust business cycle. Noted Economist Bernard Baumohl will provide the
lay of the new
fiscal
landscape, with all of its risks and opportunities
.
Members will also be
able to choose from such relevant topic areas as:
- The
Future of Work;
- Covid
Impact on State and Local Incentives; and
- Mexico’s
Industrial Trends after the new USMCA Trade Agreement.
Of course, many of
our most popular networking sessions are on the docket, including our
Peer-to-Peer meetings, Get Some Help! and
the
Info Exchange.
The Spring Forum is
indeed a milestone event, and an opportunity to formally turn our collective
sites toward the opportunities of a new economy, a new business landscape and a
new culture.
“It should be one of
IAMC’s most impactful Forums to date,” concludes Tate Godfrey.
