Happy New Year!  I hope everyone in the IAMC family had a wonderful holiday season.  We are looking forward to a very prosperous 2023, and we hope you are as well.

I have asked the staff to adopt a vision that I have for our association.  My goal for IAMC going forward is for it to be the most valuable organization in which all three of our member types are involved.  We hear this sentiment from many of our members already, but I would like this goal to drive all our efforts on the member’s behalf

We see the impacts that leaders have on teams and organizations everywhere across all industries. You can see this from company culture all the way down to the bottom line.

Our economic development members will attest to the importance of quality leadership, which can even supersede more tangible community resources.

When I started out in economic development, I had no idea it would lead me to a career in association management. But I’m so glad that it did.

The Industrial Asset Management Council (IAMC) is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year – culminating in the official celebration to take place at our Fall Forum in Detroit October 22-26 – and I am proud to say that I have been affiliated with this great organization for 18 of those years.

As the horse racing track announcers say, “And, they’re off….” IAMC is off to a great start to what will hopefully be our return to normal. We have a new set of metrics, events, programs and goals, and we are excited about the possibilities of 2022.

There is an old African proverb that says, “Calm seas do not make skillful sailors.”  After going through the rough seas of 2020 and 2021, IAMC staff, Board of Directors, Committee Co-Chairs have demonstrated excellent skills in making it through a particularly challenging time to be a professional association.

IAMC has had to make some tough decisions to adapt to the limitations presented by a global pandemic. And, we were not alone.
